ZANDELLE were formed in Brooklyn / NYC back in 1996 by George Tsalikis, then freshly departed former GOTHIC KNIGHTS crooner, to irrepressibly waive the flag of real heavy metal. Following the first self titled EP armed with six traditionally directed metal rippers in the year of foundation were the three full length albums „Shadows of reality“ (1998), „Twilight on humanity“ (2002) and „Vengeance rising“ (2006), on which ZANDELLE incorporated more and more progressive elements into their brand of massive, yet melodic and catchy power metal, what lead towards a slightly more slick overall picture. „Flames of rage“ can now be considered the essence of this development and their musical steadiness. ZANDELLE cannot be chained to any already overcrowded drawer, may it be power -, epic – or even progressive metal. They drop all sub genre blinkers and reflect on the raw energy that makes up a great heavy metal record.
Raging, forceful riffs, whipping, hard driving rhythms, melodies of epic width, some quirky playful elements that lead into more tricky passages and anthemically catchy vocal lines form the picture on nearly every song here on this album and culminate within the twenty one minute epic „Eradicated existence“, that enchants the listening metal maniac with all the beautiful facets of it's picturesque and narrative music.
„Flames of rage“ can convince the audience with catchy, memorable compositions, a good amount of quirkiness and a very natural and warm sound, that perfectionates the album in the sense of feeling. They leave behind all these genre dogmas and sail around all the raw cliffs of fashion while presenting a picturesque, sophisticated but always ravaging power metal directly into your face. ZANDELLE survived during the darkest times of traditional metal, became the founding fathers of the second wave by the end of the nineties and stand unimpressed by all the mainstream temptations for the orthodox power metal in the twenty first century.
