Forced to live the neapolitan way of life, the band was born in 1999 when FaB NiNe (vocals), Maddy Dukk (guitar) and Key Rocks (bass) began jamming together as an outlet for their teen angst. They quickly hired drummer Mirkko De Maio and began playing live shows under the monicker “The Gunners”. They alternated periods of steadiness and productivity with moments of dispersion and decline, but they become quite famous in the small neapolitan underground music scene, thanks to their frantic live activity, often giving rise to protests, blames and scandals.

During the years, “The Gunners” have mixed the different artistic experiences of each band member with the glamour of a visual show, till a lava flow, an incandescent magma made of glam-metal attitudes, mid-European influences and L.A. look gives birth to the I.D. project.

In 2005 I.D. entered the studio to record their first album, “Nine Feet Under”. The CD was self produced and has a glam punk-rock sound that is reminiscent of the great metal bands of the 80’s mixed with brit-rock and scan-rock of the ‘90s. “NiNe Feet Under” received lot of positive comments and reviews from the italian music press (such as Flash, Metal Shock, Metal Maniac), and from national and international magazines, fanzines and webzines. "NiNe Feet Under" is available through itunes, rhapsody, cdbaby, and a lot of other online music distributors.

In late 2006, Mirkko De Maio exited the band and Helly Daniels was recruited on drums. The band began rehearsing and set their sites on taking over the USA. With a lot of work, dedication and determination, the band traveled to the USA in March of 2007 to play a two-week mini tour in Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The band booked and financed the mini tour with no label support.

In April 2007 Helly Daniels was fired, and after a long search and a lot of try-outs, the band finally recruited J.J.Ashtrail on drums, and BnFair as a second guitarist. In October of 2007 Internal Disfunction's single "Two Souls In Love With Death" was included on the 272 Productions CD "Glamnation - Volume 2", available at amazon.com.
