Bakken are a heavy metal band from Northern Ireland. Formed in 2011, their music combines elements from thrash metal, 'NWoBHM' and power metal.

They recorded their debut album Death Of A Hero in 2012 in Parlour Studios, Kettering with producer Neil Haynes.

The band toured both in Ireland and Holland between 2012 and 2015, notable acts they have supported include Hell, Doug Aldrich and Tim "Ripper" Owens. They went on to release a self-produced EP Worldwide Genocide 2014, but underwent a period of inactivity shortly after between 2015 and 2018.

In 2018 founding member Simon Pickett was replaced by Frank Levi as the main vocalist (Levi having previously fronted multiple Iron Maiden tribute bands). Pickett remained as a guitarist and backing vocalist.

Thomas Alford (formerly of Tim "Ripper" Owens and double bass player in the Ulster Orchestra) was recruited on bass guitar and guitarist Shaun Nelson (formerly of Attica Rage and IronHeart) also joined in 2019 to complete the lineup.

The band once again returned to Parlour Studios in 2019 to record This Means War which was released in April 2020. This record has seen the band evolve musically more towards a traditional power metal sound, whilst retaining some of the more thrash metal elements that featured more strongly on the first two records.
