Kamala was formed in 2005. Girls, who were best friends and loved to hang around in the metal scene, decided to do their own music. Guitar player Karita Kivioja and Päivi Keski-Säntti had played together some metal covers over the years but they hadn't found a girl drummer, Päivi was playing bass at that time. But finally Päivi decided to switch to drums because they thought that it was easier to find a new bass player. Girls tried some players, but suprisingly they found their musical soulmate in their best friend and fan Emilia Peurakoski. It was just an idea 'cos Emilia hadn't played ever, but it didn't take even a month to Emilia to prove her talent to other girls.

In the spring 2006 girls had played together for six months and they decided to play their first gig in 26.04. at some fisher guys' party. It was a crazy idea for such a young band, girls tought, but they pulled it through and have yearned for more ever since. Kamala recorded their first demo called "Peto" (The Beast) in June 2006. Girls' friend Samuli Turunen recorded it at band's rehearsal place in Lutakko, Jyväskylä. And it turned out to be better that anybody could have imagined!

Now Kamala has grown a lot from those days and girls are planning a new recording session and playing gigs as much as they can.
