Formed back in the year 1998 in Lyon (France), AKIN released its first demo CD "Stanzas", the next year : reviewed as demo of the month in Hard N'Heavy and Hard Rock Magazine in January 2001, it enabled the band to sign up with Sacral Productions.

"Verse" (2001), AKIN's debut album (based on the work of E.A.Poe) and then "Forecast" (EP - 2003) were both reviewed in the french metal press as being part of the top albums of the year of their release. Such positive write-ups gave the band the opportunity to open for WITHIN TEMPTATION, DARK TRANQUILLITY, EPICA and THE OLD DEAD TREE in 2002 and 2003.

After a long off-peak period, AKIN got back to work in 2009 with a string quartet at its side and is now proud to present its second LP, "The way things end". The band just signed to ProgRock records.
