Black Crucifixion was conceived in Lapland in 1991 by Forn and Blacksoul with Beherit members Sodomatic Slaughter and Wennström joining them on drums and bass. This line-up played band's first show and was soon reduced to a trio of Forn, Blacksoul and Sodomatic Slaughter that recorded their debut The Fallen One of Flames.

In 1992 E.Henrik joined the band resulting in Promethean Gift mini-album.

Work on the ful-length Faustian Dream album began in 1996 and was not finalized until 2006 when it saw the light of northern day.

In 2009 Black Crucifixion returned to stages playing dates in Germany, Holland and Belgium. The new and vitalized line-up continued playing selected shows in their native Finland throughout 2010 and the band also re-entered studio to record their new album Hope of Retaliation was released in 2011 to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The album features four new studio tracks and a B-side of new live versions old BC classics. It is therefore the perfect "first BC album" for a new listener.

The first show of the anniversary year was played where it all began, the town of Rovaniemi in the Arctic Circle followed by selected gigs featuring an appearence at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Helsinki.
