Midnight Odyssey was officially formed in early 2007.
Dis Pater, the sole member of the project, began writing black metal oriented music in 1999, and home recorded many songs between the years 2001 and 2007.
In 2008, the first album, “The Forest Mourners” was recorded and released as a self-funded Pro CD-r limited to 100 copies.
In 2009, the second album, “Firmament” was recorded. Like “The Forest Mourners”, it was made available as a free download for a limited time, as well as being pressed as a Pro CD-r limited to 100 copies. It was during this year that Kunsthauch Records approached Dis Pater to re-release “The Forest Mourners”. A new logo was created by Nachtzeit (Lustre, Starlit). Not too long after the release of “Firmamant”, I, Voidhanger Records approached Dis Pater to re-release the second album.
Early 2010 saw the re-release of “Firmament” through I, Voidhanger Records.
In September, 2011, the double-album “Funerals From The Astral Sphere” was released by I, Voidhanger, featuring over 2 hours of music and a 16 page booklet featuring artwork by Dis Pater.
In 2015 the band releases the new album "Shards of Silver Fade".
In 2017 to worthily celebrate their 10th anniversary, the band have compiled
“Silhouettes Of Stars”, a 2-CD special release featuring a vast amount of unreleased material recorded by Dis Pater since 2007.
In 2019 Dis Pater released their third full length "Biolume Part 1 - In Tartarean Chains" via I, Voidhanger Records again.
In 2021 Midnight Odyssey released the second part of this project with "Biolume Part 2 - The Golden Orb" under the flag of italian label I, Voidhanger Records once more.
In 2022 Dis Pater finally ends his space ambient trilogy with the new full length "Echoes of The Thalassic Deep" again under the flag of I, Voidhanger Records.
