NOVA ART was formed in Russia in 2000 by vocalist and composer
Andrey "Nova",whose goal was to perform original,heavy music that combined elements of progressive metal,art rock,heavy metal and alternative rock. The original line-up was Andrey Nova (vocals,keyboards),Kostya Ganulich (bass),Oleg Izotov (guitars) and Dmitriy Selipanov (drums,keyboards).This line-up recorded and released the self-produced demo called "The Art of Nova" in 2004.The demo garnered some good reviews and in 2005 NOVA ART decided to release "The Art of Nova" as their first official album.The band added some new tracks,remixed some others and remastered the album. It was at this time that Oleg Izotov and Dmitriy Selipanov left the band to pursue other projects.NORDREAM drummer Stas Kulikov joined the band and NOVA ART had a revolving door of guitarists and keyboardists play temporarily for the group before recruiting current guitarist Dmitry Khromov. In 2005 NOVA ART released their full-length debut "The Art of Nova",which was released by Valiant Music Productions.In 2006 the band was invited to play at ProgPower in the Netherlands,and became the first Russian band to ever play at ProgPower.
