Cacophony was formed in USA in 1986 by the two technically skilled guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker (Becker was only 16 at this time).
They were quickly picked up by the label Shrapnel Records who released their debut album "Speed Metal Symphony" in 1987. In 1989 after Jason Becker had been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) Cacophony split up.
