Our guitarist, vocalist, and co-founder came from New Orleans and their Cypress Hall scene. In Texas he started hanging out with a bad crowd after Katrina put him there but the only thing around during high-school was drugs and Emo shows. He doesn’t like emo. In San Antonio he found a burgeoning underground scene that hosted several local shows and their midnight oil after party house shows per week.

Venues like The White Rabbit and house shows at places like Tofu House and Evergreen brought him into the live music fold and gave him an avenue for what had previously been over a decade of guitar and vocal improv with friends over joints and whatever else they could find (everything). It quickly proved that it’s easy to sniff out shows and build a band but it’s impossible to get musicians to actually get it together and ultimately a decade long quest of hitch-hiking, hopping the occasional freight train, living in cars and on couches across the western half of the USA trying to make different scenes come up with something good, something real, ensued.

Haley and Evan met up in Texas initially and wrote the beginnings of the first album under the name Maenad but were again torn apart. Haley ran away to LA and Evan left the country swearing he quit rock and roll forever... but they all three met up, Luke, Haley, and Evan in Los Angeles a couple years later and locked themselves away for weeks at AMP rehearsal studio basement to get this album down.

It sounds exactly like what it is: the combined frustration, hatred, depravity, and despair that came from years of dredging the gutters, drug dens and 5 dollar shows across the USA for something meaningful, something real.
