Dee Calhoun, known to the doom metal community as "Screaming Mad Dee," began his musical journey at the tender age of nine when he saw Kiss on television. Dee has been quoted as saying "Kiss made me want to play music, Black Sabbath made me want to play dark and heavy music, and (Rob Halford of) Judas Priest gave me my vocal template."

Dee's first live performance was at the age of 12, and he then spent the early and mid-1980s honing his vocal talents. In late 1985 he added the role of bassist to his resume, and since then has recorded and toured with numerous bands, as vocalist, bassist, or both. From 2010-2018, he was frontman for doom metal legends Iron Man (Rise Above/Metal Blade Records) and is now frontman for Spiral Grave (Salt Of The Earth Records).

In early 2016, Dee signed with Argonauta Records as a solo artist (vocals & acoustic guitar). His first two solo albums, "Rotgut" in 2016 and "Go to the Devil" in 2018, were met with favorable reviews. Dee's third solo album, "Godless," will be released via Argonauta in 2020.
