Somn is a post-black metal band from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, initially formed in 2017 by guitarist Oleg Salnikov and drummer Timur Yusupov. The lineup was soon completed by bassist Mikhail Kurochkin and guitarist Artem Selyugin, bringing together members of notable underground acts like Show Me A Dinosaur, TRNA, and Olhava. Deriving their name from the god of sleep, the band creates conceptual music that channels traumas, deep fears, and nightmares.
Their debut album, "The All-devouring", was released on vinyl by Elusive Sound in 2019.
The new full-length "Consecration" is an album about a man cast into the grinding gears of others'
ambitions.
