MERCYLESS was Created in 1987. 3 demo tapes later [ "Immortal Harmonies", "Visions from the Past", "Vomiting Nausea" from 1988 to 1990 ], they recorded their first album "Abject Offerings" [ released on Vinyl solution Records ] with Colin Richardson [ Carcass, Machine Head, Napalm death... ] in 1992. This album was very well received worldwide and all these positive reactions were a great encouragement to progress in this infernal way !
After deadly gigs, MERCYLESS recorded a new album "Coloured funeral" in 1993 for the international label Century Media. 9 tracks of pure brutal death metal recorded and mixed by Colin Richarson again. This album is followed by an european tour with DEATH and ANACRUSIS, and another one with MORGOTH, TIAMAT, SAMAEL, UNLEASHED and lot of french gigs with CANNIBAL CORPSE, OBITUARY, HYPOCRISY, LOUDBLAST, AGRESSOR, SUP, DESULTORY, MASSACRA...
1994 was quite an evolution with a new line up, add of a keyboard and a complex and finely-worked progressive Thrash / Death with many breaks and ideas. The album "COLD" [ Impact Records ] was recorded in 1995 and "Sure to be Pure" [ Impact Records ] in 1996 with a technical and brutal style.
After a spanish tour in 1998, the band decided to let the band in stand-by...

2011, after 13 years of silence, MERCYLESS is finally back ! And to celebrate the return of one of the best death metal band from France, a double CD entitled "In memory of agrazabeth", with all demos, rehearsals, live stuff, full booklet with photos and rare articles, is released through Legion of Death / Armée de la Mort Records !
After several gigs, the time has come to work on a new album in the vein of their two first debuts.
MERCYLESS quickly inked a deal with Trendkill Recordings and by late 2013, their new album "Unholy Black Splendor", mixed and mastered by master Dan Swanö [ Asphyx, Opeth, Dissection... ], is released worldwide as CD, LP and Digital. Artwork done by french duet Fortifem that perfectly fits this new dark masterpiece !
In 2016, the band releases "Pathetic Divinity" under Kaotoxin Records.
