Maybe it was hatred for the disco culture or it could just have been an idea formed in 2006, originated in a bar in Vorarlberg that was filled with smoke and smelled of vomit. Either way, it worked. Singer Tschisi and bassist Opa found two more guys willing to form a rock band with guitarist Moosi who had recently returned home from Vienna and drummer Nixxx who immigrated from Styria and they easily agreed on the fact that playing in a rock band rules. As “the louder the better” is an almost religious mantra in heavy music, an additional guitarist was needed. After a change in line-up the right man for this job was found in Punti who since then reinforces the guitar side with full force.Initially, the most fun was found in drinking beer, hanging up posters of nude women on the walls of the rehearsal room and covering classics of the 70s and 80s punk and metal scene. This worked for a couple of weeks until the point where you have to decide whether you want to be a passive rehearsal room band with a huge collection of adult magazines and tons of beer in the fridge or you pluck up all your courage and start being an active band by writing songs and showing the public your attitude towards rock music.By now, two EPs have been recorded live in the studio with the intention of capturing the raw force of the live gigs where the band regularly confronts the audience with partially bare band members. With five sweating, head banging dudes wound up in a high pitch on stage, the true rocker spirit makes everyone put on their bullet belt and make that hair fly. Discopowerboxxx is a true Heavy (Cock) Rock band and proves that again and again by their aggressive and masculine way of playing their songs.The mystery of the peculiar band name remains. But there is a simple explanation. Shortly before the first official live show, the band was in need of a name that would stick. The solution was simply read off a package and x-rated by adding two “X”.And you cannot deny it – disco sucks!
