The puppetmasters of pandemonium are back, and this time they are twisting the boundaries of reality even further apart. The Finnish cinematic extreme metallers caused quite a stir with their colossal and critically acclaimed debut Puppetmaster of Pandemonium (2008) in its native country and abroad. As well as mesmerizing the critics and fans, the album also attracted praise from high profile musicians, such as Paul Allender of Cradle of Filth. "Your album is fucking amazing, I love it, it's just the type of stuff I'm into! Very fucking cool!" the axeman commented.

Chaosweaver had originally planned to do "the Bathory thing" and concentrate only on making great albums and playing no live shows at all, but due to an increasing demand and a couple of "offers they could not refuse" the band agreed to play two shows: on the main stage of Finnish Metal Expo in front of 2 000 people, and opening up for the mighty Samael, one of Chaosweaver's most important influences.

After the live incantations, the band concentrated exclusively on making a noteworthy successor for Puppetmaster of Pandemonium. Chaosweaver wrote dozens of songs, and chose nine of them, that would best fit the wholeness of the grandiose concept album, titled Chapter II: Enter the Realm of the Doppelgänger.

"The main idea of the storyline is twofold: although the tale is fictional, the context is based on actual astral physics and scientific theories" states keyboardist Max Power, the man behind the concept and lyrics.

"The story begins, where Son of the Moon, the Kalevala influenced closing track of our previous album, left off. The main character tries to find a passage to the land of the dead through a great whirl in the sea, but he ends up getting spat through a wormhole onto a bizarre shore in a world between worlds, a distorted space and time dimension. And according to M-theory, an extension of superstring theory in theoretical physics, there are 11 dimensions together, not just the regular three known to you and I."

Compared to its successor, Enter the Realm of the Doppelgänger offers a wider range of musical influences: from the fairytale atmosphere of Pan's Labyrinth to sheer outbursts of hate, from haunting funeral doom eeriness to catchy melodies and rocking riffs, from chaotic industrial soundscapes to beautiful piano instrumentals. The album has it all.

Like Puppetmaster of Pandemonium, Enter the Realm of the Doppelgänger was produced, recorded and mixed at Studio Perkele by the band. The album was mastered by Minerva Pappi at the world renowned Finnvox Studios, with Johan Edlund of Tiamat fame providing the nightmarishly thrilling original cover artwork.

In Chaosweaver's pitch-black universe, or should I say multiverse, there are no happy endings. As the lyrics of Requiem for a Lost Universe suggest: "Inhale the light of the vortex sun / Spit out the rest and become undone".
