Mirrormaze was born in 2008 after several collaboration between the three founder members: Davide Penna (guitars), Sam Lanfranchini (keyboards) and Matteo Maselli (drums).
Understood their musical chemistry, the trio, for the rest of the year and the beginning of the next one, start to compose songs influenced by their respective favorite bands like: Dream Theater, Fates Warnig, Alter bridge, Evergrey, Nevermore, Symphony X, Muse, Pink Floyd, Rush etc etc. During the first half of 2009 the three develop their first 5 tracks which ended up being being the first Demo.Songs undoubtely show from the beginning a progressive and metal style but a bit atipic in itself, in fact, even if there are many instrumental, orchestral and odd-timing section very tipical of prog, at the same time the band binding for melodies and riffing emerges, a feature that come from a further genre like alternative metal.
In the second half of the year, while writing all the songs, lyrics, melody lines and recording all the tracks for every instrument (except for bass) that would finally become the album entitled Walkabout, the three of us look deeply for other musicians that fit correctly in the band, so many singers and bassist were auditioned from all the north of Italy to complete the line-up.

It is with the 2010 that MirrorMaze finally find in the person of Fabio D'Amore the perfect voice for them and he handled the bass duties for the album too thanks to his abilities as bass player.
To add an extra-value to their debut album, in the middle of 2010, thanks to the relationships and resources of their new singers, they decide to include a special guest star, to do the mix and master in a well renowed studio in north Europe and to have a true respected artist to make the cover artwork. There couldn't have been a better guest than Ray Alder, lead singer of pioneers Fates Warning and Redemption, on one of the highlights of the record, "DEEPER SIGNS", for the first verse and all the vocal answers to Fabio D'Amore in the chorus, creating a unique blending and fine musical mix for this genre. The mixing and mastering jobs are handled by Staffan Karlsson (Stevie Wonder, Nathan East, Earth Wind & Fire, The Roxette and Firewind) in his Landgren Studios 5.1 in Sweden and Gustavo Sazes (well known for his great works with the like of ARCH ENEMY, MANOWAR, ANGRA, FIREWIND, KAMELOT, NIGHTRAGE ecc.) takes over for the artwork.

It seems that all works very well when in January 2011, because of different vision on managing the band and on his future, Matteo Maselli commitment to MirrorMaze slips away and, in agreement with the rest of the band, they decide to carry one without him.Despite the great challenge in finding a right replacement on drums (and filling the vacant bass player position permanently) in the middle of 2011 MirrorMaze finally find their new band member in Fabio Nasuelli (drums) and Juan Manuel Savoini (bass) and begin to rehearse a slamming 2-hours set-list for the upcoming live dates.
