Opening Scenery is a Progressive-power metal band based in Turin (Italy). Formed in 2003, the project comes to its final stage three years later in 2006, becoming the result of the union of five musicians pulled together by their passion for metal and progressive.
Since the very first beginning the band pursue to manage his own style embracing all the different musical influences of all the band members. The band spent a lot of times in the studio working very hard writing tons of music playing in the meantime also live shows ‘till the band finally recorded their very first demotape entitled “A Mind’s Travel” tentatively due for promoting the live appeareances. As many times happened there were also any natural line up changes ‘till October 2006 when finally the band find out its current line up. Trying to find their natural identity they go on to work in the studio testing new muscial solutions and in 2009 they met their current producer Alessio Lucatti (keyboard player from Vision Divine and Etherna) with whom they led themselves to enter the studio to record their first album in september 2009 but as most of the times happened, it tooks several months to see the light.
The result are 10 songs recorded and produced at Rock Lab Studios by Mr Lucatti and Andrea Polito who produced the vocal lines, the mixing sessions has been played in the same studio and mastered by Mr. Vanara. Immediately after, on december 2010 Opening Scenery finally signed with the record label Underground Symphony for the release of their first album called “Mystic Alchemy”. On their debut album Opening Scenery combine a variety of influences to deliver a high power recording with an highly developed sense of melody. “Mystic Alchemy” consist of classic heavy metal sound with a very progressive edge which never sound self-indulgent. Imagine the power of bands like Iced Earth mixed together with influences of such bands like Dream Theater/Symphony X and vocal melodies in the vein of Angra and Rhapsody Of Fire. This elements are strongly represented in songs like “Ante Bellum” / “The Third Eye” / “Black Roses Kiss”, moreover here you can find also the speed power influences in songs like the bombastic “The Seventh Gate”. During the recording sessions Fabio Lione from Rhapsody of Fire / Vision Divine entered the studio to sing one of the most challenging record’s song, the impressive title track, as well as on the wonderful piece “The Final Destination” (Fabio is the narration voice also on the song called “Old Memories”).
