2001 - 2003
The Legion of Darkness was founded by Lord Inferos and Flagellum in the year 2001. In 2002 the due recorded their first demo “Hymns to Blasphemy”, few copies were distribuited in local environment. The four songs of the demo played sounds with an attitude typicaly 90s. The work composed by the L.o.D. after completing “Hymns to Blasphemy” marked a radical change in style; the tracks were based towards Black Pagan Metal influenced by the old polish scene, the lyrics became more thoughtfull and introspective. These suggestions became concrete in its name-sake demo of april 2003, and was accepted with great enthusiasm in the national underground environment. After this last outing the band would be represented on different underground compilations with their very own brands.

2004 - 2005
Immediately after the realization of their second demo, the band started working on pices which now is composed in the first album entitled “Cantus”. The album came out at the end of 2004 as promo destinated to the usual workers, and was then introduced professionally in the autumn of 2005 by italian company The Oath Records. “Cantus” has received many positive acclaims and often indicated as one of the best pagan black metal production ever made in Italy. In the last months of 2005 their came an important change in the L.o.D. band: to the old lineup was added Adranor on the bass and keyboards (already in Heruka and Throne of Molok).

2006 - 2007
Years 2006 and 2007 bring to L.o.D. some problems that slow down the band, but its members don’t get discouraged. In this while the band solves all complications and turns back to work for the second album.

2008
“Meridies” is completed and the work of the band is at last carried out in a recording studio. The album, professionally recorded, is the result of the continuous musical research of Legion of Darkness, that has been joining the sounds of Black Metal and acoustic melodies, clean vocals and classical instruments as violin, cello and flute with contribution of a lot of guests. The full length is composed of five tracks (approximately length 50 minutes) of which only three are inserted in the promo. As for the last track, entitled “Ithaca”, a videoclip has been realized (included in the promo in multimedia format), in order to show through images the mediterranean feeling that the band would communicate.

2009
The band received a lot of positive criticisms concerning the promo of "Meridies" by webzines and magazines in Italy and abroad, which is rated often as "top demo" in the dedicated sections. Legion of darkness signed a deal with the emerging label Dark Babel records during the summer, in order to print the second album.

2010
"Meridies", the second album of the band, was realesed by Dark Babel Records and it is avaible for sale. Legion of Darkness are working on the third album currently.
